College Life

College is a great place where someone can get a higher education and find who they are. People become more responsible because the teachers expected less from you because it's up to the students to stay focus and stay on track with their class work and homework. College gives people an opportunity to meet different type of people, religion, and culture. College can also be hard especially if you working full-time or have kids or other responsibilities. I love college even though it can be hard at times, but just receiving knowledge makes me understand things better. Many people stay on campus and that gives them more freedom. College life is fun because it has a lot of activities college students can do. Like concerts on campus, fundraisers and sports. College is a great place to go to, but college is not for everyone because it is time consuming, or money could be an issue. College makes it easier for someone to get a better job than someone with did not go to college. So, hopefully people will chose to go to college to get a degree and better themselves.

Education

Education in the 21st century can become better if we make the necessary investments in our children's education. The democratic national committee is supporting education and how to improve it. First, after high school they want Americans to attend at least one year of job training. They urged parents to be mindful on how education can help the younger generation get ready for the future ahead. Also they want to make higher education more affordable by expanding Pell grants, and initiating new tax credits to make sure any young person who works hard and desires a college education can access it. The democratic national committee wants to encourage parents to place their child in a pre-k program or head start program because early childhood education is important. They want kids to be preparing for kindergartner and have the tools they need to get a good education. I think people need to realize that education is beneficial because it helps people understand things in the world. People that do not take education seriously usually lack lot knowledge. As Americans we should want to be on the same page to help rebuild our economy.

My Day At The Hair Salon

Hair salon's is a great place for ladies to get a new look. I went to the hair salon last saturday for the first time because I usually go on thursdays. I arrived at 10am I did not leave until 3pm. I was so upset because I did not know why it took that long. I seen people leave before me that came arrived after me. I noticed that the stylist were talking and sitting around instead of doing their job. I loved the way they do hair, but the time is too long. Hair salon's have so many steps before your hair is style. First, you have to sign up, wash, sitting under the dryer, then blow dry, and style your hair. I started thinking about when someone want to look their best you have to pay the price. Rather it's spending money, or waiting for the service. I went back to the hair salon on thursday and I realized that saturday was a busy day.I arrived to the hair salon at 10am on thursday and I left at 12pm. So, for everyone that like getting their hair done be mindful that you have to go early and pick selected days so you can avoid spending so much time at the hair salon.

The Year "2012"

People are making predictions about the year 2012.Expert claim that these are reason that 2012 could be the end of time. The Reasons are Mayan calendar, Sun storms, the atom smasher; The Bible says it, and a Super volcano. I believe the world is headed to destruction and people should be more prepare and alert. The earth is undergoing a lot of problems like global warming, more natural disaster, ect. As a Christian I think we are closer to the end, but do not know if the year 2012 is the end of the world. Nostradamus also believed that castrophe would happen and the year 2012.He said the world would lead to destruction by 2012 like the changes of climate, economy, and an increase of evil in the world. If all this is true how do we prepare for it? What can we to do to prevent these events from happening? Nothing so everyone need to enjoy life for what it is and just pray about it.

Music Industry Misleading the youth

The music entertainers are misleading the youth. For Instance, long time R&B singer Usher has been married and recently divorce and wrote songs about it. He is promoting his business through his songs, but it's not a good message for the youth. First, He was talking about love, and then turns around and wrote a song about Divorce. Another entertainer is T.I he was arrested for having weapons. Prior to his arrest he went to different schools to promote nonviolence is the way to solve problem and the importance of education. The musician is misleading because he recently was released from prison and made a song about people trying to be gangster that wasn't already. Many of the kids might be thinking why he is so aggressive about people image instead of promoting more positive images of the music industry. The music industry should be more positive because musicians are very popular and always view by the public eye. Some teens wish they could do the things most rappers or R&B singers talk about, but the truth is most of the entertainer never experience any of those things they say.

How Budget Cuts Affect Teachers?

Education seem like it's always getting cut. Teachers are affected by the budget cuts and some even thinking about being in another field. Education is important and the more teacher budget cuts, then less people want to be teachers. Teacher are affected because the ratio will be higher, less supplies, and that could make it harder to teach. Also Teacher budget cuts affected their employee benefits and possibilities of school closure. As an education major, I get skeptical about being in the education field. There should be more money funded for education. Since, education is so important then it needs to be address more seriously. The budget cuts can make the teachers lack passion for teaching. Teachers will have to work twice as hard because of the higher ratio, receive less money for employee benefits, and fewer materials and that could make teachers want to search other positions. Teacher budget cuts affected a lot of people because parents have to buy more supplies for their kids, and less transportation, and more days of school closed.

school drop out

Schools are at it's highest with drop out rate. It seem like nobody notice how the kids are dropping out high school. Many kids are dropping to support their family by getting a job to make extra money. Many havve to work earlier because some are teen moms and dads. Students are not seeing enough positive role models. For instance, the celebrities are always getting in trouble and sometimes when a child see that sort of behavior, then that make them want to do the same behaviors. Like rappers T.I or Lil wayne both well known rapper and both had to go to prison for violence and promoting bad behaviors , instead of rapping about stay in school and the importance of it. Even the teachers are included in this cause of high schooler dropping out because most of the teachers don't have the passion or not getting pay enough because of the recession. Parents losing their job could be putting pressuren on the kids to go out to find a job. Whatever the situaution is it's becoming outrageous how students not recognize the importance of getting a diploma.

Working at Daycare

Childcare business is very fast-paced environment. I think parents should do more volunteer at daycare centers because parents sometimes don't understand how hard it is to take care of a lump sum of kids. Many daycare's have different curriculum to follow and it could be difficult to teach younger kids. Younger kids seem to want to play more instead of developing learning skills. Being a teacher I found it hard to work at daycare because of the parents and mangement. Even at times the directors see to always agree with the parents, even when the parents might be wrong. Basically it seem childcare became all about the money instead the child's well-being. Daycare is a passion for me, but many people don't understand the concept of working with kids. Many workers become impatience, frustrated, or abusive with the kids. It needs to be more teachers in the classroom even if the ratio is correct because the more supervision is bettee for the kids and the teacher.

potty training

I'm in the process of potty training my one year old son. I thought it was going to be easy, but it's not. One reason is the amount of milk he is given at night and if I don't give any milk before bed he will not go to sleep or he will wake up in the middle of the night. Also his nursey is not helping out like I would hope. I'm trying to get rid of diapers and not use pull-up's, but instead go straight to underwears. I did try a couple of nights, but it was a disaster. I went online to get tips about potty training and many expert said to get the potty that plays music. I did, but he stay on the potty long enough. Then, I start to think is my son to young to get potty trained. I'm a teacher at La Petite Academy and the kids are usually in the potty training process at two years old. I start everything early with my son like reading, talking, and now potty traiing. H e is developing and all other areas, but he is not trying to go the potty. His dad tries to show him, but our son just run away. He is too playful and maybe too young to be potty trained.
