Music Industry Misleading the youth
The music entertainers are misleading the youth. For Instance, long time R&B singer Usher has been married and recently divorce and wrote songs about it. He is promoting his business through his songs, but it's not a good message for the youth. First, He was talking about love, and then turns around and wrote a song about Divorce. Another entertainer is T.I he was arrested for having weapons. Prior to his arrest he went to different schools to promote nonviolence is the way to solve problem and the importance of education. The musician is misleading because he recently was released from prison and made a song about people trying to be gangster that wasn't already. Many of the kids might be thinking why he is so aggressive about people image instead of promoting more positive images of the music industry. The music industry should be more positive because musicians are very popular and always view by the public eye. Some teens wish they could do the things most rappers or R&B singers talk about, but the truth is most of the entertainer never experience any of those things they say.

I disagree with you about usher, I believe usher is a grown man so if parent's allow their children to listen to ushers' music about his life stories than it's their problem not ushers. Usher is not a childs role model exactly anybody may listen to usher but he definitely set the bar at grown man status so it's the parent's who have to make sure their children are not listening to his music if they feel the stories he tell about his life is not for a child (youth) to be listening to. And T.I. he only did the touring on non violence to get time off his sentence, which he did because he went to jail for only one year. We all know what kind of rapper t.i. is no child should be listening to his music in my opinion. He is a rapper and we all know that every rapper has used explicit lyrics so that goes hand and hand. I agree but I also disagree because I see your point but, T.i. is like a rated R movie and someone like hanna montana is a G rated movie so if youth are watching R rated movies why cant T.i. be a role model to youth.
ReplyDeleteI am very agree with you with most of your points. I totally agree with you that public personalities, and particularly people from the music industry, should be more concerned by the images they diffuse to their audience. It is not physically possible for the parents to control what their children listen or watch. Consequently, the artists have to care about the words they use, and the actions they take. Usher may be able to talk about divorce, but only in a way to allow people avoiding it. TI might be somebody with a life that has been full of violence, so he is just transmitting what he was growing up with. However, he sould really be concerned by the negative influence on young people that consider him as a model.
